What is Starfish Breaststroke?

In Starfish Breaststroke we start our next pull before we finish our previous kick. Each stroke cycle has one pull, one breath & one kick. How to perform Starfish Breaststroke?

1: Body Position 

Always keep your body flat with your face down in the water. Keep your body in line with the surface of the water. Your body position plays important role in how efficiently you can swim breaststroke or any other swimming stroke.
2: Arm Movements 
The catch, the pull, and the recovery are the three most important steps.
The catch 
Your arms should be out straight and your palms should always face downwards. To generate most of the power you should press down and out at the same time.
Pull 
Pull as hard as you can towards your chest. This is to ensure you push a lot of water backward. The movement of pressing back and downwards will generate enough power to move you forward in the water.
Recovery
You should join your both palms in a prayer-like position in front of your chest and push out until you are in a streamlined position.
3: Breathing Technique
At the end of the pulling movement, lift your head and neck above the water for a breath. You should always exhale bubbles in the water at your recovery phase.
4: Kicking Technique
Bend your knees to bring your heels towards your bottom and make a circular motion outwards with your feet until they return to the straight position. Remember to keep your feet below the water surface when bending the knees.
Always keep your feet in a flat position when doing a breaststroke kick.
